OUR HISTORY
Our very first Presentation Evening July 1998
Can you spot a young Alex, Laura & Lisa???
The Troupe was started on the 1st July 1998 by Alex Keen and her mum Louise Sergent, after Alex spent 1996/97 travelling the country meeting other Troupes, as Miss Deputy UKFM. We are proud to be a member Troupe of the United Kingdom Federation of Majorettes (UKFM) an organisation that was started over 40 years ago by Eileen & Ken Cheshire to promote friendship between majorettes and twirlers.
Alex has been a majorette since 1990, and both she and Louise qualified as U.K.F.M. judges in 1998. Alex is also an instructor in the Academy of Twirl.
The Troupe trains on a Monday and Thursday night at The Fleet in Old Fletton, between 6.00 & 8.30, assisted by Linda & Laura Betts, who qualified as U.K.F.M. judges in 2007 and Lisa Betts who qualified as a UKFM judge in 2013.
Alex, Lisa and Laura train the girl. We currently have 36 members from the age of four.
A presentation evening is held each July, and members who have performed well throughout the year are presented with trophies and sashes. The last practice night in December is run as a Christmas Show, giving the members a chance to show their family and friends what they have been learning.
During the winter we compete regionally in competitions and in April we attend the U.K.F.M. national finals. We were named top troupe for the Cambridgeshire area for three years running in 2001, 2002, 2003 and again in 2010 and 2013. In 2005 & 2008 we were named overall Marching Troupe at the National Finals. Individually, the girls are also very successful both locally and nationally.
Most recently at Nationals 2013 we were named Overall troupe in the UKFM. A huge achievement which we are very proud of.
During the summer months we take part in fetes and carnivals.
Our aim is to encourage young people to achieve their full potential in an enjoyable and structured environment
